Public Writing
Here are some things I've written for general audiences. (See the 'Professor' tab for articles I've written for specialized mathematical audiences.)

Mathematics for Human Flourishing is name of both my book and a speech that spawned the book. The book (Yale University Press, 2020) is aimed at the general public. The speech was directed to mathematicians, and I gave it in my capacity as president of the Mathematical Association of America.

Solve this math problem: the gender gap. An oped I wrote after Maryam Mirzakhani won the Fields Medal. Los Angeles Times, August 25, 2014.

The Lesson of Grace in Teaching. This is probably my most shared piece of writing. This was a speech I gave after winning the Haimo Award, a nationwide teaching award for college faculty. It appeared on my blog and was published in The Best Writing on Mathematics 2014.
I've wrote a number of articles for MAA FOCUS when I served as MAA President, about teaching mathematics:
